Embroidered Mala (麻辣) Unisex Apron

10 Reviews

Ok, we admit we're a little obsessed with mala, both the flavors and the characters. 麻, or "má," refers to the numbing of Sichuan pepper and 辣, or "là," to the burn of chili peppers. So 麻辣 means numbing and spicy—the tingle and thrill of Sichuan cuisine.

This apron comes in a gray-black denim with striking, royal-red embroidery. We previously made this apron in 100% cotton, but came to feel it was a bit too heavy for a hot kitchen and wrinkled too easily. This denim, which is 70% cotton and 30% polyester, is still substantial but lighter weight and less prone to wrinkles. Plus, it has 4 pocket compartments on the lower front, secured by steel rivets (see second photo).

Roughly knee-length, with an adjustable metal buckle at the neck and long ties at waist, it fits most men, women and teens.

Material: 70% cotton, 30% polyester; 10 ounces
Size: 28 inches wide by 34.5 inches long, with adjustable buckle at neck
